The second training session for the Italian CHAMP cities took place in Florence on the 15th of June, hosted by the City of Florence, attended by 11 cities participating.

The main aim of the event was to provide methodologies for the definition of tools and organisational structures for the development of all the phases in the target settings and in the involvement of policy makers in the integrated management. The Mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, welcomed all CHAMP participants.

In the coming autumn, training for italian cities is still going on! The next meeting will be the third Italian training session, with a focus on implementation and monitoring of a Climate plan, and will be held in Milan, on the 21st of September. The seminar is organised jointly with the Regione Lombardia.

The CHAMP trainings have started in Hungary. The first Integrated Management System (IMS) training was organized on 2nd-3rd June and a third party meeting will be organized on 10th June.

In Hungary, there are currently 12 local and county governments taking part in CHAMP: local governments of Kimle, Taktaharkány, Tatabánya, Taszár, Somogy, Balatonfűzfő, Balatonalmádi, Balatonföldvár, Fonyód, Siófok, Tab, and county government of Veszprém.

The 6th European Sustainable Cities and Towns Conference in Dunkerque, France 19-21.5.2010 resulted in Local Sustainability Declaration that stresses the need to crate innovative, sustainable and inclusive communities. This requires the integration of local autonomy as vital organizations and therefore achieving territorial cohesion in Europe.
At the same time a Call on Climate Action is aimed to stress the key role of local and regional governments in the international negotiations. The local authorities wish is to transform our communities into low carbon and climate resilient communities. In this process, for example, the role of procurement and governance systems are important.

CHAMP has just published the 2nd project newsletter!

The newsletter gives you an insight to the Integrated Management System (IMS) trainings for local authorities in CHAMP countries. It also contains updates from project partners as well as information about the online Capacity Development Package (CDP) currently being built and much more. Come and meet us in the AGORA at the 6th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns in Dunkerque, France on Thursday, 20.05.2010 at 14.00h!
Also visit the session on "Integrated sustainability management" on Thursday 09.30-11.00h to hear adn discuss with cities and experts about the advantages of integrated and cyclical management approaches.

Second training for Finnish cities

On the 4th of May Finnish CHAMP cities and representatives from other interested organizations participated in a workshop in Tampere. Focus of the workshop was communication and involvement and presentations discussing how and why to involve different stakeholders took place. Good practices from the cities of Tampere and Vantaa were also presented.

The next training for Finnish cities will be organized in the autumn.
